1. California AB 1883 and SB 947: Worker AI Bills Race to Final Vote Before August 31 Deadline

Both bills cleared their opposite-chamber appropriations committees on August 13 and now face final floor votes with eight days until the California legislative session closes. If signed, they would be the first state laws imposing specific worker protections against algorithmic management systems.


2. UK AI Regulation and Safety Bill Clears House of Commons

The bill passed the House of Commons on August 14, giving the AI Safety Institute statutory powers to inspect frontier models before public deployment; Royal Assent is expected by October.
