1. EU AI Act Transparency Code: Last Day to Sign Before July 22 Deadline

Today is the final day for companies within the scope of EU AI Act Article 50 to sign the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content and secure initial-signatory status. Non-signatories lose presumption of conformity and face heightened regulatory scrutiny when Article 50 enforcement begins August 2.


2. EU Digital Omnibus Still Absent from Official Journal - 11 Days to August 2

The Digital Omnibus - signed July 8 and carrying the Annex III high-risk AI deferral to December 2027 - has still not appeared in the EU Official Journal as of today. Publication must occur by approximately July 30 for the three-day entry-into-force period to clear before August 2; companies cannot formally rely on the extended deadline until the Omnibus is published.


3. House Science Committee Advances 10 Bipartisan AI Bills

The House Science, Space, and Technology Committee marked up and favorably reported 10 AI-related bills with broad bipartisan support - the most significant congressional AI package this session. The markups followed the June 4 release of the 269-page Great American AI Act (GAAIA) discussion draft, the first comprehensive federal AI governance framework proposed in Congress.
