1. Amended AI Bill Passed by CT Senate After Extensive Questioning Tier 1
Connecticut’s Senate voted 32-4 on April 21 to advance SB 5, an omnibus AI bill that regulates frontier model developers, creates a state AI regulatory sandbox, and imposes youth chatbot protections. The bill now moves to the House.
2. Nebraska Signs Conversational AI Safety Act (LB 525) Into Law Tier 1
Nebraska’s LB 525, signed April 14, requires AI chatbot operators to disclose to minors that they are interacting with an AI system and prohibits AI services from posing as licensed mental or behavioral health providers.
3. EU Digital Omnibus Proposes to Delay High-Risk AI Deadline to December 2027 Tier 2
The EU Digital Omnibus (COM(2025) 836), currently in trilogue, would shift the Annex III high-risk system compliance deadline from August 2, 2026 to December 2, 2027 - a 16-month extension for organizations currently preparing for this summer’s enforcement date.
